Bowmore 31 years old ‘Timeless’, 45,4%. Bottled 2020

On Bowmores social media feeds, things have been brewing for a quite a while now. A major global campaign celebrating ’The Art of Time’ was unleashed and with that a number of stunning Bowmore bottlings. A series ‘crafted and shaped by time’. Both this Travel Retail exclusive 31 year old and a 27 year oldContinue reading “Bowmore 31 years old ‘Timeless’, 45,4%. Bottled 2020”

Bowmore 1984 vintage, 48,7%. Bottled 2013.

A 28 year old bourbon matured single cask bottled as a travel retail exclusive in 2013. Distilled on the 24th April 1984 and bottled on the 20th March 2013, bottled at cask strength at 48,7%, this single bourbon cask yielded only 500 bottles. The worlds largest ‘floating’ whisky fair is the Cinderella whisky fair aboardContinue reading “Bowmore 1984 vintage, 48,7%. Bottled 2013.”

Bowmore 10 years old ‘Dark & Intense’, 40%. Travel Retail Exclusive. Bottled 2017

The return of age stated Bowmore in the Travel retail range. This particular expression for me replaced ‘Black Rock’ with it’s sherry cask influence. This was very welcome news in the many whisky forums I’m a member of. A marriage of Spanish sherry casks and hogsheads and an age statement!! I bought this on theContinue reading “Bowmore 10 years old ‘Dark & Intense’, 40%. Travel Retail Exclusive. Bottled 2017”

Bowmore ‘Surf’, For duty free sales, 43%. Bottled circa 1996

Surf was a series that survived many ‘face-lifts’ as the distillery changed the packaging and with that appearance of their bottlings and eventually the shape of the bottle itself. Surf was introduced during the 1980’s and was finally discontinued in 2014. Another pre-travel retail days when it was still called ‘duty free’. This bottle isContinue reading “Bowmore ‘Surf’, For duty free sales, 43%. Bottled circa 1996”

Bowmore ‘Springtide’,54,9%. Bottled 2015.

Besides being a Bowmore expression, the term Springtide refers to when the moon and sun align with the earth when it’s a full or new moon, they work together and make the low tides lower and high tides higher. The walls of Bowmores N˚1 vaults get battered by waves and swells that the North AtlanticContinue reading “Bowmore ‘Springtide’,54,9%. Bottled 2015.”

Bowmore 12 years old ‘Enigma’,40%. Travel Retail Exclusive. Bottled 2012.

So the final installment in the long running saga that is the Enigma. A hugely appreciated expression by Bowmore enthusiasts and also a hugely missed one. As the well known on line retailer Master of malt, they state that the Enigma is ‘rich and very drinkable’. As the whisky boom gained momentum Bowmore discontinued theContinue reading “Bowmore 12 years old ‘Enigma’,40%. Travel Retail Exclusive. Bottled 2012.”

Bowmore 15 years old ‘Mariner’,43%.Travel Retail Exclusive. Bottled 2014.

All good things come to an end they say and the turn had come to the Mariner, from the fantastic aesthetically pleasing screen prints of the 1980’s to the finaal version that was bottled between 2011-2014. 15 years old, this bottle consists of a marriage of ex-bourbon from the United States and ex-sherry oak casksContinue reading “Bowmore 15 years old ‘Mariner’,43%.Travel Retail Exclusive. Bowmore Surf, 40%. Travel retail Exclusive. Bottled circa 2004

Bottled around 2004, this edition was like it’s predecessor bottled at 40%. Most probably bottled in the late 1990s. I found some notes on this stating this was matured exclusively in bourbon casks. If that’s the case then the recipe was changed to a combination of bourbon & sherry casks for the successor of thisContinue reading “Bowmore Surf, 40%. Travel retail Exclusive. Bottled circa 2004”

Bowmore 21 years old PX finish, 49,7%. Travel Retail Exclusive. Bottled 2019.

Bowmore 21 years, a limited release this one available only to the global traveler. According to whiskybase.com there were only 2500 bottles available. Aged firstly in ex-bourbon casks for 18 years and finished in Pedro Ximénez casks, this limited edition Bowmore was hard to source once released and even more so now as it’s soldContinue reading “Bowmore 21 years old PX finish, 49,7%. Bowmore 12 years old,40%. Bottled for World Duty Free, Heathrow Airport.Bottled 2008.

Now this one is a little bit of a mystery, well actually not really. It’s an Enigma in disguise which is revealed on the tube as well as the rear label. Bottled with a message of gratuity to all the people who contributed to the World Duty free store at Heathrow Terminal 5. I’m stillContinue reading “Bowmore 12 years old,40%.
